What Do You Value?

This is a question we should all ask ourselves. What is most important in our lives? Many of us would say our families, our friends, our health, our jobs, our pets, perhaps material things we accumulate on a regular basis. These things are all important, but what if we had a chance to sit at the Creator’s feet and listen to Him speak. In Luke 10:38 Mary and Martha had that opportunity. Martha was overwhelmed with preparing the house for guests. Mary obviously had no interest in doing that. She desired to sit at the feet of Jesus to listen to His words. I’m sure Jesus appreciated all that Martha was doing , but His response to Martha’s annoyance of Mary not helping was “Martha, Martha you are bothered by so many things, but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part.” He viewed what Mary did as being most important and that was meeting personally with Jesus and feeding her spirit with His words. What an honor to be given that in person opportunity! If given that kind of opportunity, what would you say to the Creator? What would you ask Him? How would you behave? Would you watch Him from a distance? Would you distract yourself as a way to avoid Him? Would you be brave enough to say, “Tell me everything I’ve ever wanted to know Lord?” Even though we can’t physically sit at His feet, He continues to speak to us through His written words. It took about 1500 years and 40 authors to write the Bible. Sounds like an incredible book that I am learning to value even more as an author. The Creator personally instructed His authors on what to say to us about life, how to get to know Him and how we can eventually spend eternity with Him. It is definitely becoming more of a good read for me. Maybe it can be for you too. Check it out! Get to know Him!
